Canon Michael Wolfe

-

We are very sorry to learn that Canon Michael Wolfe died on 4th January 2023.

Michael had reached the seventieth year since his ordination this year, and he enjoyed a long and distinguished ministry in Liverpool Diocese since 1959 in parishes in Southport and Upholland. He became a Canon of Liverpool Cathedral in 1978 before his appointment as a Residentiary Canon in 1982, a post which he held initially alongside his work as Ecumenical Officer for Merseyside.

Michael retired in 1996 but continued his ministry as Cathedral Chaplain for many more years.

Many of the Cathedral Company will recall Michael’s pastoral ministry with deep gratitude to God for his regular visiting at home or in hospital, his phone calls to mark birthdays, and his cheerful enthusiasm, not least for the mission and unity of all God’s people. As we commend Michael to God’s eternal loving care, we offer our prayers for Brenda and for all Michael’s family at this sad time.
