Liverpool Cathedral receives Cathedral Music Trust grant

We are delighted to announce a grant from the Cathedral Music Trust, to support the work of our outreach choirs, choristers and choral students over the next year.
The grant, providing £17,500 to the Liverpool Cathedral choir, will support the organisation in its ongoing development of the choral offering, preserving an integral part of our worship here at Liverpool Cathedral.
Cathedral Music Trust aims to enrich the present and secure the future of cathedral music, campaigning on behalf of cathedral musicians and teams, supporting their work through grants, whilst continuing to encourage the pursuit of excellence in sacred choral and organ music.
This latest grant awarded to Liverpool Cathedral will allow us to continue our work in reaching young people that may not typically have the opportunity to encounter and engage with cathedral music through our Junior Choir and other outreach work.
“We want to ensure that family income and background is not a barrier to young people in Merseyside encountering inspiring choral music. The Cathedral Music Trust's grant ensures that this can remain the case, through their support of our outreach choirs.”
Sue Jones, Dean of Liverpool Cathedral
“We in the music department of Liverpool Cathedral are so very grateful to the Cathedral Music Trust for their generous grant given to us. In addition to our Cathedral Choirs, we have one of the widest programmes of choral outreach, with musical opportunities existing for every age group. This new grant will allow us to continue to develop our offering, working on enhancing its sustainability long into the future.” Stephen Mannings, Director of Music
The Liverpool Cathedral Choir was founded in 1880 and have performed regularly here at the cathedral since construction of the Lady Chapel was completed in 1910. During its life span, the choir membership has included over 2000 boys and girls, with the current choir performing at choral services 6 days a week. From our ‘Teeny Maestros’ programme to our L64 adults’ choir, Liverpool Cathedral provides musical outreach opportunities for all ages.
