PUBLIC NOTICE

TAKE NOTICE that the Chapter of the Cathedral Church of:

Christ in Liverpool

has on this date 9 June 2021

applied to the Fabric Advisory Committee of the said cathedral for approval of the following proposal:

The Proposal

To install two glass panels in the archway into the Lady Chapel ante-chapel, in association with the general refurbishment of the space.

Summary of the nature of work and its extent (and materials) [or in the case of an object, a short description of it and details of the proposal]

Two glass screens designed by artist Sarah Galloway to be installed within the arch into the Lady Chapel ante chapel.  17mm thick glass (two laminations of 8mm) held in place with stainless steel D clamps, covered with bronze leaf motifs.  Within the space the masonry will be cleaned and re-pointed, new lighting introduced, a radiator covered re-waxed, existing timber cupboards repaired and re-oiled, a new bench introduced around the central stone column (oak slatted seat supported by polished bronze ‘legs’).  Note that the bench is effectively free-standing and not mechanically fixed to the wall or floor.
