The Dean of Liverpool’s Christmas Message

Wishing you a Christmas filled with joy, hope and love from us all at Liverpool Cathedral

We know this year has been a tremendously difficult year for so many people; that it is a year like no other. But what has been comforting and humbling is how the city has pulled together.

Christmas is usually our busiest time of year and we are blessed to be such a major part of your Christmas preparations. Some of my favourite things are welcoming you to our carol services then hearing your singing combine with our choirs to resound in our great space. This Christmas, continuing to keep you encountering a safe Cathedral has been our priority.

Like organisations everywhere have to change how we do things. We’ve asked you to book your place, to sanitise your hands, to join us but not with your friends.  So I’d like to say thank you for your support over this past year. And thank you for giving up so much, to keep others safe.

I’ve joined with Steve Rotherham, Liverpool Metro Mayor in with a Christmas video message. It features Christmas music sung by our choirs. So when you can’t be with us, we can still be with you.

Wishing you a Christmas filled with joy, hope and love from us all at Liverpool Cathedral,

The Very Revd Dr Sue Jones, Dean of Liverpool.
