The Light Before Christmas is coming back to Liverpool Cathedral...

The Light Before Christmas is returning to Liverpool Cathedral for Christmas 2023.
Peter Walker and Luxmuralis is back with a spectacular large-scale light and sound projection artwork transforming the interior of Liverpool Cathedral for Christmas time.
They are proud to be returning to Liverpool from 1st - 8th December for this special tradition that prepares everyone for Christmas, bringing joy and family togetherness through the spectacular artwork that transforms the majestic Cathedral.
Entitled “The Manger” this spectacular installation allows viewers to follow the story of the Nativity using traditional and abstract imagery, to take the audience on a journey to the crib of the infant’s birth, with an original score by David Harper which accompanies the illumination.
Creator and lead artist Peter Walker says: “We are delighted to return to Liverpool for our second Christmas show, for many our Christmas illuminations become a tradition bringing people of all ages and all backgrounds to the Cathedral in the heart of the city. ‘The Manger’ is a beautiful production which we are sure will get people in the mood for Christmas celebrations this year.”
Dean Sue Jones said: “This event was phenomenally popular last year with every ticket being sold, so we are delighted to bring it back. We know how much people wanted to see something similar, so we asked Luxmuralis to return with an elevated festive show."
Previous shows by Luxmuralis have been a resounding success bringing thousands of new audiences to the splendour of the Cathedral. Following the success of ‘The Angels are Coming!’ last year and previously ‘Space, the Universe and Everything’ this new show is created for all the family to come along and enjoy in Liverpool this Advent.
Visitors can also visit the Welsford Bistro, purchase Christmas gifts from the shop and light a candle for loved ones.
The immersive experience is not to be missed and is the perfect way to celebrate the true meaning of Advent and Christmas.
