This week’s News from Liverpool Cathedral – a Place of Encounter

Catch up on the latest news from Liverpool Cathedral for Sunday, 17th October
Welcome from Dean Sue
This week we mark the beginning of the Legal Year and the Cathedral is hosting the Legal Service on Sunday at 10.30. The Legal Service brings together the judiciary and civic representatives and it prayers for them and all involved in law order and keeping. It is a magnificent event as people gather in all their finery. I think it an important marker in our year as we pray for and support those who uphold the law.
Many who sit as representatives of the Jury say how difficult it is to make decisions ‘beyond reasonable doubt’ and I for one would not like to make the decisions and judgements that our legal system has to make. So lets pray for them in their roles and give thanks for our Judicial system.
Most gracious God,
we humbly beseech thee to grant unto the High Court of Parliament
and all the Judiciary the gift of thy Holy Spirit;
that they may truly and indifferently minister justice
and that all things may be so ordered and settled by their endeavours,
upon the best and surest foundations,
that peace and happiness, truth and justice, religion and piety,
may be established among us for all generations;
through Jesus Christ our Lord Amen
