This week’s News from Liverpool Cathedral – a Place of Encounter

Catch up on the latest news from Liverpool Cathedral for Easter Sunday, 4th April 2021.

Welcome from Dean Sue

Alleluia. Christ is risen!

He is risen indeed. Alleluia!

A very warm welcome to Liverpool Cathedral’s e-news on this weekend when we remember the death and resurrection of Jesus. The journey to Easter Day has been a thought provoking one as we have remembered not just Christ’s journey to the cross, but our own journey as we have reflected on all the suffering and loss of the past year, as we have journeyed through this pandemic.

There is a lot to be hopeful about as we see the new life that is all around us. I am grateful to the vice-Dean Canon Neal for his very imaginative Easter Garden. You can find this year’s Cathedral Easter Garden here:

I would also like to thank the Canon Precentor and the Director of Music for a very imaginative Holy Week and Easter and for the balance of worship available on-line and in person. The adult choir has worked hard, as has the organ scholar, if you have not listened to Compline then please do take time to do so. It can be found at... If you have not had chance to listen to the Via Crucis played by the organ scholar, Dan Greenway then it is well worth a listen. It can be found here:

We are so fortunate to have such talent and to see young people engaging with the liturgy of the Church.

It feels as if the Cathedral is very slowly coming back to life and Easter Day will give us the opportunity to praise God for God’s steadfast love throughout this past year. I hope and pray that through the celebration of the resurrection of Christ you will be able to see new hope and life in our world.

Alleluia. Christ is risen!

He is risen indeed. Alleluia!
