Welcome to Liverpool Cathedral’s E-news. This week is the last week before Christmas. There are a number of services in the Cathedral over the next week and we are continually monitoring the rapidly changing situation with Covid. Our aim as ever is to make sure people are safe. This week the Canon Theologian has asked us to think about the concrete image of The Baby. In the Gospel reading for Sunday, we hear of Mary the mother of Jesus visiting the mother of John the Baptist who is also pregnant with John. These two mothers will give birth to two significant figures in the Christian Story. One prepares the way for the other. So as we move towards Christmas we think of those two babies and the mission that they have to point us towards God.

Worship with us this week
Join us in person for 8:30 am Morning Prayer and the 12:05 pm Eucharist on weekdays and Saturdays (Livestream at 8:30 on Sundays), and Evensong/Evening Prayer at 5:30 pm on weekdays and 3 pm on Saturdays. The livestreaming of worship is under review, as some of our volunteers take a break, and we await the installation of further kit. As the Cathedral is being used more for large events it is not possible to leave equipment and wires around the building, as was the case earlier in the year.
Nevertheless, the 8:30am service of Morning Prayer (Mon-Sat) and Holy Communion (Sundays) continues to be streamed to the Cathedral Facebook page.

Christmas Flowers
The Cathedral Flower Arrangers give their skill and creativity to the Cathedral free of charge, and as Christmas approaches you can contribute to their work by making a donation via the Cathedral Chaplain, Canon Myles Davies, who will be positioned around the Bridge on Sunday mornings.

If you would like somebody to be remembered in the Cathedral’s regular prayers please email Verger Keith James at: vergers@liverpoolcathedral.org.uk The prayer list will begin anew every two months, so if you would like somebody to be prayed for by name over a longer period please remember to ask again.
Sunday Lunch-
The Sunday Roasts are available from the Welsford Bistro between 11:30 – 4 pm! There is a choice of 2 meats and a veggie/vegan option as well.
The cost is £11.50 adults and £6.95 for children.
A Choir for Every Age
We are recruiting singers to our choirs: Cathedral Junior Choir (ages 6-11), Gilbert Scott Singers (11-18) and Liverpool64 (SATB choir for 18+). The Junior Choir and Gilbert Scott Singers are rehearsing in-person again, and Liverpool64 should be returning imminently. We are currently working to gift single bed sized ‘squares’ blankets and covered hot water bottles to people within our wider community, buying the hot water bottles in bulk to keep costs to a minimum. Advent Lectio Divina – Thursdays 2nd – 23rd December: 7-8pm on Zoom

Young People invited to meet with Regional Church Leaders
If you are between 18 and 35 you are invited to an evening with Merseyside’s Church Leaders with an opportunity to meet other young Christians sharing in conversation, friendship and refreshments.
Churches Together in the Merseyside Region (CTMR) brings together a gathering of young adults over 18 with different experiences from right across our traditions. They have invited their Church Leaders and would be delighted to welcome other young adults to this open forum.
