This week’s News from Liverpool Cathedral – a Place of Encounter

Catch up on the latest news from Liverpool Cathedral for Sunday, 27th February 2022
Welcome from Dean Sue
A very warm welcome to this weeks e-news. This is the last Sunday before Lent before we begin the penitential season of Lent on Ash Wednesday. There are a number of ways to engage with Lent.
Lent is a season of penitence and prayer, preparing to enter more deeply into the Passion of the Lord, begins on Ash Wednesday with a celebration of Holy Communion, at 12:05pm and a choral celebration at 5:30pm. The imposition of ashes will be offered at both services, for those who wish it, as a sign of our humility and need for God’s mercy. Our 5.30 service will be presided over by Bishop Bev.
As Lent approaches remember that the Church asks her members to fast in this season, eating simply, giving generously to those in need, and asking God to deepen our appetite for the Bread of Life.
As part of our Lenten spiritual discipline and from Ash Wednesday we will be using prayer beads as an aid to prayer at the morning service of 8.30. The prayer beads will be used in conjunction with the Lords prayer and as an aid to help us think more deeply about the Lord’s Prayer. This service is Live Streamed so please do make this a Lenten Discipline. Encountering Prayer Beads: Liverpool Cathedral
