This week’s News from Liverpool Cathedral – a Place of Encounter

Catch up on the latest news from Liverpool Cathedral for Sunday, 27th March 2022
Welcome from Dean Sue
Welcome to this weeks e-news. Today is Mothering Sunday in the life of the church.
Traditionally, it was a day when children, mainly daughters, who had gone to work as domestic servants were given a day off to visit their mother and family.
It was also considered important for people to return to their home or 'mother' church once a year.
So each year in the middle of Lent, everyone would visit their 'mother' church - the main church or cathedral of the area.
Today we begin to look towards Holy Week and Easter. Our focus shifts to the cross and death of Jesus.
If you wish to journey through the last days of Jesus’ life then please join us over Holy Week and Easter as we walk the way of the cross.
God of love,
passionate and strong,
tender and careful:
watch over us and hold us
all the days of our life;
through Jesus Christ our Lord Amen
