Ash Wednesday Choral Eucharist

17:30 PM - 18:00 PM
Join us on Wednesday 22 February at 17:30 for the Ash Wednesday Choral Eucharist.
A sung service of Holy Communion for the beginning of Lent and prepare for the events of Holy Week and the celebrations of Easter with the imposition of ashes, in the Presbytery.
What is Ash Wednesday?
It is an ancient custom to make a simple cross on the forehead out of Ash at the beginning of Lent, as a reminder of our sorrow for our sins, and the brokenness of the world, and as a sign of hope in the mystery of the cross, God's love entering into our fragile humanity and redeeming us.
What is Lent?
Lent is the period when the Church prepares to celebrate the events of Holy Week and Easter, when Christ gave his life to save the world, and rose again from the dead. It begins by asking for God's forgiveness. It is a time of fasting and prayer, stripping back distractions so we can focus on receiving the gift of God's grace at Easter aware of our limitations, and trusting in God's goodness.
