From Darkness to Light

Mark the start of Advent at Liverpool Cathedral.
Mark the first Sunday of Advent as Liverpool Cathedral is gradually transformed from darkness into light.
Join us by 17:20 on Sunday 26 November to enjoy our spectacular service that will mark the start of the Advent season.
At the beginning of the service, our entire building is in total darkness. A Procession led by the Cathedral Choir will move through the darkened building, by candlelight, into the light of the coming Christ.
When the procession finally reaches the east end and the Altar; our stunning building will be illuminated.
Please note, to allow us to conduct this service safely, you must be seated by 17:20.
If you arrive after this time, you will not be admitted until the service is partway through.
Things to note about this service:
- Everyone is invited
- Free entry, no booking required
- Limited paid-for parking is available
- We expect the service to finish around 7pm
