‘The Song in our Hearts’: Praying with Music

Join us for this special day of prayer and quiet reflection on the feast of St Cecilia, patron saint of music. The day is led by Revd Dr Sally Harper and Liz Shields, both members of the Cathedral team.

‘I mean to sing to my God all my life, to play for my God as long as I live.’ (Psalm 104:33)

This contemplative day offers the chance to reflect on how music of all kinds can help us to draw closer to God. Through guided reflections, personal time for prayer, and optional sharing, you’ll be invited to pause, listen, and reflect. No special musical ability is required, nor a preference for any particular kind of music! All you need is an open heart to ponder how God might be present to us through music and silence.

The day will include:

  • A short liturgy
  • Three guided reflections
  • Time for personal reflection
  • A closing reflection
  • An opportunity to attend Evensong at 3:00 pm

BOOK NOW

Tea and coffee will be available throughout the day, starting at 10:00 am. Please bring your own lunch or enjoy a meal at the Cathedral’s Welsford Bistro.

Places are limited, so early booking is essential.

We look forward to welcoming you to this peaceful and enriching day.
