SUMMARY:Morning Prayer
DESCRIPTION:A simple service of morning prayer \nJoin us at Liverpool Cathedral for a simple service of Morning Prayer. Would you like to find out more about happens in this type of service? You can find out more information on our Regular Services page. \nWould you like to ask for prayer? You can submit your prayer request through via the Prayer for Liverpool website. \nWhat happens at a morning / said evening Prayer service?\nEvery morning and evening the Cathedral holds a time of prayer\, in common with Christians across the world\, giving thanks to God for the day to come\, and the day that is past\, and reading passages of the Bible that help us focus on who God is\, revealed in Christ. The service of Evensong is a sung version of Evening Prayer\, and one of the most distinctive and beautiful parts of the Cathedral’s worship\, the choir singing psalms\, the ancient hymns of Israel\, and the songs sung by some of the characters involved in the life of Christ\, most notably his mother\, Mary. \nWhy is prayer important?\nTo pray is to turn to God\, who is the most important reality and person we can know. Prayer is communication with God\, being with God\, it can involve asking God for the things we need\, and just being still and filled with wonder\, or in times of sadness\, sitting with the One who loves us more than we can comprehend. \nPrayer for healing\nEvery day we pray for healing\, for those who are sick\, and for the world in its brokenness. We never know how God will answer our prayers\, but we trust that they are heard and precious in God’s sight. \nPrayer for strength\nGod is described in the Bible as our rock\, a strong tower\, our place of refuge\, and our defense. Perhaps the shortest prayer in the Bible was St Peter’s as he was drowning\, ‘Lord\, save me!’ Through Christ God is with us\, and has promised that not even death can separate us from his love. \n\nDigital Giving\nIf you’d like to consider giving online instead of cash or envelopes on the collection plate\, you can find out more on our donation page. \nLiverpool Cathedral is a registered charity no 1205970

SUMMARY:Eucharist (BCP)
DESCRIPTION:A simple service of holy communion using the Book of Common Prayer (BCP) \nAll are welcome to join us at Liverpool Cathedral for this Eucharist service. \nThe Book of Common Prayer (BCP) is the classic service book of the Anglican Church. Its first edition was published in 1549 and\, after revisions in 1552\, 1559\, 1604 and 1637 it arrived in its standard form in 1662. It helped establish the balance between the Catholic and Reformed elements of Anglican theology and doctrine. For over three hundred years\, almost every service in Anglican churches around the world used the Prayer Book and it remains in use in many churches even today.  \n The Prayer Book is most loved for the rich beauty of its language which sounds grand and poetic in almost every sentence. It has nurtured the faith of millions and is a great treasure of the church. Every Friday\, at 12:05pm\, we have a service of Holy Communion according to the Prayer Book’s order. We use the collects in their original form and the sequence of readings is from the King James Bible. There are a few (authorised) variations from the standard text. Devotees of the Prayer Book will recognise what we mean by using the summary of the law in place of the commandments at the beginning of the service. Otherwise it is pure 1662. Normally there is no sermon.  \nWould you like to find out what happens in Eucharist\, and why it is important in the Christian faith? Head to our Services page. \n  \nDigital Giving\nIf you’d like to consider giving online instead of cash or envelopes on the collection plate\, you can find out more here. \nLiverpool Cathedral is a registered charity no 1205970
