Choral Evensong

All are welcome. Our service is led by the clergy and Cathedral Choir. This gives you the opportunity to listen to some beautifully sung choral music; relax, pray to God, and reflect what your needs are at this time.

In the current, disrupted world, the work of the Royal School of Church Music is more important now than at any time in the 93 years of our history.

The RSCM is an educational charity, whose mission is to ‘promote the study, practice and improvement of music in Christian worship.’

Today we welcome singers from churches and choirs across the Diocese to Liverpool Cathedral to our morning and afternoon of choral workshops and rehearsals which culminate with choral evensong together in the presbytery. Our thanks to the Cathedral music staff and scholars for delivering the sessions. This is one of the first ‘Come and Sing’ events the RSCM has organised since the pandemic began, and we’re delighted to be able to host this event in as safe an environment as possible. Music during evensong will include pieces from Stanford and Maxim, and will also feature John Rutter’s I Will Sing With the Spirit, which was specially commissioned by the RSCM.
