Liverpool Cathedral is seeking a dedicated and professional individual to join our Constable team. As a Cathedral Constable, you’ll play a vital role in delivering a first-class 24/7 security and welcome service, ensuring the safety, peace, and positive experience of everyone who visits, worships, works, or volunteers here.
Working on a rotating shift pattern (48 hours over 8 days), you’ll be the first point of contact for many of our visitors—offering a warm welcome, maintaining a calm and secure environment, and acting as an ambassador for the Cathedral. From supporting major events to diffusing difficult situations and monitoring CCTV, every day will be different.

We’re looking for a dynamic and experienced Communications Manager to play a pivotal role across both the Diocese of Liverpool and Liverpool Cathedral. This is a high-profile opportunity for someone passionate about storytelling, reputation-building, and helping faith-based organisations connect meaningfully with younger and more diverse audiences.
In this role, you’ll be instrumental in shaping and delivering communications strategies for key transformational projects—including the Diocesan Investment Programme and Fit for Mission. You’ll also lead on promoting the Cathedral’s public-facing programme of services, exhibitions and events, working closely with internal teams to ensure campaigns are impactful, timely and aligned with our vision.
From managing the communications team and steering messaging development, to overseeing digital channels and marketing major events, this is a role where no two days are the same—and where your work makes a real difference.

Liverpool Cathedral are inviting applications for the position of Choral Scholar to join our music team. There are 2 positions for Tenor. These roles are ideal for outstanding gap year, undergraduate or post graduate students. However, all applications will be considered equally.
The scholarship is provided by the cathedral´s music trust, the Francis Neilson Trust, set up for the education of young singers in the cathedral. As such we will require scholars to assist with some mentoring of the choristers on a rotational basis.

The Schools Singing Leader (SSL) will work on the Liverpool Cathedral Schools Singing Programme under the guidance and strategic vision of the Choral Outreach Lead and the Director of Music. The SSL will deliver weekly singing workshops for 10 hours per week in primary schools and will lead or work weekly with one of our borough-based Junior Choirs. The SSL will also play a part in the annual recruitment of new choristers to the Cathedral Choir.
The post-holder will be an impressive musician with a proven track record of teaching music (singing in particular) to groups of 15+ children in and/or outside the school setting. Through the Schools Singing Programme and the Junior Choir they work with, the SSL will develop music within the Diocese of Liverpool, inspiring and nurturing potential in young people, all the while increasing awareness of Liverpool Cathedral and its musical tradition.

Lay Clerks sing as part of the Liverpool Cathedral Choir at five of the seven principal services each week, and at such rehearsals as are laid down in the timetable below.
The standard singing timetable for Lay Clerks is:
-THURSDAYS: Rehearsal 5.00 – 5.20 / Evensong 5.30 – 6.00
– FRIDAYS: Rehearsal 5.00 – 5.20 / Evensong 5.30 – 6.00
– SATURDAYS: Rehearsal 2.00 – 2.30 / Evensong 3.00 – 3.40
– SUNDAYS (morning): Rehearsal 9.30 – 10.00 / Eucharist 10.30-11.50
– SUNDAYS (afternoon): Rehearsal 2.00 – 2.30 / Evensong 3.00 – 4.00
