Make a Donation
Thank you for considering supporting Liverpool Cathedral.
Liverpool Cathedral costs over £3.5 million to run each year, and over a third of this is maintaining our Grade I listed building.
A donation, no matter the size, makes a huge difference to our vital work in the community, and ensures Liverpool Cathedral can remain open to visitors and worshippers for hundreds of years to come. We are so grateful for the support of our generous donors.
Liverpool Cathedral is a registered charity no. 1205970. If you are able to Gift Aid your donation, you increase your gift by 25% at no extra cost to you. If you are eligible, please do Gift Aid your donation online. Thank you

Fundraising Events
We are proud to partner with local charities and organisations to run joint fundraising initiatives.
For over a decade, thousands have experienced the thrill of abseiling off the iconic Liverpool Cathedral. Descending in a 150ft free hang from above the great West Door, some people face fears, some revel in the excitement – all raise money for some amazing charities and causes.
The 2023 Cathedral Abseil raised approximately £180,000 for 46 charities including Shelter, Alder Hey, and Whitechapel. Thanks to everyone who took part!
In 2024, our abseils will take place across three weekends in September.
Want to Abseil?
Most spaces are held by our charity partners – please find information below about those Charities Participating in Liverpool Cathedral Abseil 2024
If you would like to abseil for a different charity, please fill out our Expression of Interest form or contact fundraising@liverpoolcathedral.org.uk.
Abseil Frequently Asked Questions
Want to abseil but have some questions? Head to our FAQs page to find out more
Everyone needs to have a place to call home – a nice comfy bed, hot food to eat, somewhere you can watch television, play games or read a book. Unfortunately, not everyone in our city has this.
Liverpool Cathedral and The Whitechapel Centre are working hard with those people who need a place to call home and help them reach their full potential. We need your help, by spending ONE night away sleeping in Liverpool Cathedral and raise money, enabling us to help as many people as possible.
Can you climb to the top of Liverpool Cathedral Tower in time for sunrise?
This year we’re setting you the challenge of climbing 521 steps, right to the top of our iconic tower, in time for sunrise, whilst raising funds to support Liverpool Cathedral or your favourite charity.
The climb will take you through some of the hidden areas of the Cathedral not usually open to the public, and provide a look behind the scenes of this amazing building.
Race the sunrise whilst the rest of the city sleeps!
What could be better than getting your breakfast whilst dawn breaks over Liverpool?
Entry is £30, or £35 including breakfast at the top of the tower.
We ask for a minimum fundraising target of £50 per person for Liverpool Cathedral, other charities may ask for different amounts.

A wonderful way to support Liverpool Cathedral and make your own seasonal decoration for your door.
Our wreath workshops welcome some of the most talented florists in the North West to share their skills with you. Why buy an arrangement when you can learn to make it yourself?
Each event uses a mix of fresh and dried flowers and foliage, with extra decorative items available to purchase on the day.
Our next session is on Saturday 9th December 2023, in the main space. If you have any questions please email elaine.taylor@liverpoolcathedral.org.uk.
Annual Review
Every year, Liverpool Cathedral creates an annual review that highlights the diverse range of work it accomplishes.
Generosity Week
Generosity Week takes place in the Harvest season, so that as we thank God for his generosity to us, we also have the opportunity to think about how we might respond to that generosity. You can find resources from the Church of England for daily activities, reflections and prayers on the theme of Generosity, along with a series of podcasts.
We Are Recruiting
Liverpool Cathedral is a great place to work and so we hope you’ll consider applying for a position with us.
100 years: 100 voices
As we prepare to celebrate our centenary year we want to capture the voices and stories of people who have some association with the cathedral. We are delighted to be in partnership with BBC Radio Merseyside who will be recording and sharing those stories on their station and on BBC Sounds.
