Liverpool Cathedral Signs Landmark Agreement with Liverpool Hope University
Liverpool Cathedral is thrilled to announce a new and exciting chapter in our relationship with Liverpool Hope University, marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Monday, 14th October. This agreement, formalised by Liverpool Hope University’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Claire Ozanne, and the Dean of Liverpool, the Very Revd Dr Sue Jones, paves the way for collaborative efforts between the two institutions that will benefit our community and foster growth in various areas.
The MoU signifies a deepening partnership between Liverpool Cathedral and Liverpool Hope University, creating opportunities for joint initiatives in performing and creative arts, education, and spiritual development. It is a shared commitment to nurture young talent, engage in cutting-edge research, and offer placement opportunities for staff, students, and volunteers.

- Performing and Creative Arts: Developing creative projects and events that highlight the talents of students and staff from both institutions, while using the Cathedral’s iconic spaces as an inspirational backdrop.

Commenting on the partnership, Professor Claire Ozanne expressed her excitement, saying, “Liverpool Cathedral aligns closely with the values and ethos laid out by Liverpool Hope University’s ecumenical traditions. We are therefore delighted to formalize this relationship, which is an important step forward in our commitment to working collaboratively with local stakeholders to contribute to the development of Liverpool City Region, its organisations, and communities.”
She added, “This agreement will provide exciting opportunities for those engaged with both institutions, including our staff and students. We look forward to working with the Cathedral and utilizing the strength of our teaching and research to support leadership development, work with young people, and engage in interreligious dialogue to create lasting impact within our community.”
The Dean of Liverpool, the Very Revd Dr Sue Jones, echoed these sentiments, remarking, “Our relationship with Liverpool Hope University is incredibly important to myself and Liverpool Cathedral. Liverpool Hope’s historic links to both the Church of England and the Roman Catholic Church have shaped that institution and made them a significant partner with our Cathedral. Signing this memorandum cements and deepens our relationship and enables us to build a great future together.”
