Sunday 15th March: Road Closures

Welcome > News > Sunday 15th March: Road Closures
Posted on March 11, 2026

To help your visit to Liverpool Cathedral run smoothly on Sunday 15th March, please note that the Liverpool Half Marathon will be taking place in the city, with several road closures affecting access to the Cathedral. Please plan your journey in advance.

Road closures around the Cathedral will be in place from 8.30am until after 12.00pm and include:

·      Upper Parliament Street (both directions)

·      Great George Street

·      Duke Street (upper section)

During this time, access to the Cathedral will be from the north and east of the city only. Upper Parliament Street (westbound/towards the waterfront) will remain closed until after 14.00pm.

Please also note that the Cathedral car park is expected to be extremely busy, and additional road closures across the city may impact your journey throughout the day.

Staff, members of the Congregation and visitors are advised to enter the Cathedral Car Park via Upper Duke Street as normal.

Residents have been advised to exit the car park via the Upper Duke Street Entrance, and caution must be taken whilst exiting, as vehicles may be driving against the one way system during the race period (until approximately 2pm).

Staff and visitors may also exit the car park via the Upper Duke Street Entrance, and race organisers have also put on stewards for anyone leaving the car park via the usual Upper Parliament Street Exit, and will direct traffic left (only) down a cordoned lane and on to Hope Street.
