The Holly Bough Service

All welcome.

Towards the end of the service, the Holly Bough is carried the full length of the Cathedral. The Holly Bough procession begins near the Christmas Crib and comes to rest at the foot of the Cross, which is the focal point of the reredos above the High Altar. The procession thus marks the route from Crib to Cross and reminds us that the Child whose birth we now celebrate with joy, was also to know the suffering and pain of Calvary.
