Liverpool Cathedral Celebrates Canon Ellen Loudon as She Begins Her Full-Time Role as Director of Social Justice

On Sunday, Liverpool Cathedral celebrated the ministry and service of Canon Ellen Loudon as she begins her role full-time as Director of Social Justice for Liverpool Diocese.

After ten years serving as Canon Chancellor at Liverpool Cathedral, Canon Ellen is now dedicating her ministry entirely to leading and developing social justice work across the Diocese, supporting communities, advocating for change and helping to address issues of inequality and social need.

Throughout her decade at Liverpool Cathedral, Canon Ellen has played a significant role in the life of the Cathedral community. Her leadership, compassion and commitment to faith in action have inspired countless people, while her work has helped strengthen the Cathedral’s mission of serving both the city of Liverpool and the wider region.

As Canon Chancellor, Ellen has been a familiar and valued presence at worship, events and community initiatives, helping to shape the Cathedral’s ministry and outreach over the past ten years. Her passion for social justice has always been at the heart of her work, making this next chapter a natural continuation of her vocation and calling.

Reflecting on this milestone, Canon Ellen marked ten years of ministry at Liverpool Cathedral on Sunday, preaching at the Cathedral’s 8.30am, 10.30am and 3.00pm services as friends, colleagues and members of the congregation gathered to celebrate her contribution and ministry.

While Canon Ellen’s departure from her Cathedral role marks the end of an important chapter, we are delighted that her gifts, experience and dedication will continue to benefit communities across Liverpool Diocese through her leadership as Director of Social Justice.

Everyone at Liverpool Cathedral would like to thank Canon Ellen for her faithful service over the past decade and wish her every blessing and success in this important role.

We look forward to following the continued impact of her work across the Diocese and celebrating all that she will achieve in the years ahead.
