Journey Through the Christmas Story

Every space within Liverpool Cathedral becomes part of the story, inviting visitors to explore Christmas through light, music and imagination.

The Nave – The First Noel

The Cathedral’s magnificent Nave becomes the centrepiece of the experience.

As soaring Byzantine-inspired artwork is projected across the vast architecture, the Nativity story unfolds in spectacular fashion, surrounding visitors with colour, movement and light.

An original soundtrack featuring a beautiful contemporary reimagining of The First Noel fills the Cathedral, creating an atmosphere of reflection and awe.

Visitors are encouraged to pause beneath the illuminated ceiling, take in the breathtaking surroundings and capture a memorable family photograph beside Liverpool Cathedral’s iconic Christmas trees before continuing their journey.

Christmas Past

In the Well, Noel transports visitors through cherished festive memories.

Inspired by traditional Christmas decorations, treasured toys and seasonal celebrations from years gone by, this immersive installation celebrates the warmth and nostalgia of Christmas across generations.

Accompanied by a contemporary interpretation of The Nutcracker Suite, this part of the experience evokes childhood memories while celebrating the timeless traditions that make Christmas so special.

Introducing Constellation

Making its debut as part of Noel is Constellation, a brand-new collaborative artwork created with renowned sculptor Peter Walker.

Suspended within Liverpool Cathedral, thousands of delicate paper stars combine to form a glowing celestial sculpture.

Each individual star carries a handwritten message of hope, love or reflection from visitors, families and local schoolchildren, creating a powerful collective artwork that celebrates kindness, community and togetherness during the festive season.

More than an installation, Constellation invites everyone to become part of the artwork itself.

A Cathedral Transformed by Light

As your journey continues, projections of festive patterns, seasonal imagery and rich colours illuminate almost every corner of Liverpool Cathedral.

The Cathedral’s soaring arches, intricate stonework and vast interior become an enormous canvas for light, creating an experience that blends centuries of architectural heritage with cutting-edge digital artistry.

Created exclusively for Liverpool Cathedral, Noel is unlike any other Christmas event in the UK.

A Christmas Tradition Returns

Following the phenomenal success of previous Luxmuralis installations at Liverpool Cathedral, Noel continues a much-loved festive tradition that has captivated hundreds of thousands of visitors.

Each year, audiences return to experience Liverpool Cathedral transformed through light, music and storytelling, creating lasting Christmas memories with loved ones.

This year’s brand-new production promises an entirely fresh experience while continuing the breathtaking scale and artistic excellence for which Luxmuralis has become renowned.
