Upgrading the Sound System

Upgrading the Sound System

The first phase of upgrading the sound system has taken place with a new console, controls and wiring for the existing speakers. This has enabled us to start reusing the main system and we are pleased to report improvements to the sound quality in some areas.

This is however still a work in progress. As such we have inevitably encountered some areas where the sound quality is still poor and we apologise to those with hearing aids who experienced problems last Sunday. The Vergers are working hard with NoiseBoys, our sound contractor, to resolve these issues, including bringing in a new loop amplifier to improve sound quality and eventually, new speakers that are being made in a way that is sympathetic to the building.

We would like to thank the generosity of so many who have enabled us to invest in our sound system. We would also like to thank the Vergers for their efforts to understand its workings. We can see improvements already and we are confident in the eventual long-term improvements to the sound quality at the cathedral. Please bear with us as we continue to progress this project.
