Congratulations and farewell….with many thanks!

Many of the cathedral congregation will know the Revd Dr Hannah Lewis – the brilliant British Sign Language interpreter and leader at many of our services in the past; our pioneer minister for the deaf community within the Diocese.  Her work has been immense in building a network of deaf churches and congregations, through her own personal energy, commitment and vision….in no small way helping the cathedral be a solid part of that vision.

We now say congratulations to Hannah – but a farewell too; for she has just been made Chaplain among the Deaf Community in the Diocese of Oxford.  A terrific move for her; one she will take up at the end of January.

So, we say congratulations and farewell, but with many many thanks for all she has done, in particular for all she has brought and enabled at the cathedral to support our deaf community; many initiatives of which will continue, especially her monthly BSL Interpreted Eucharist on a Saturday lunchtime, enabling BSL interpretation provision for our larger services etc., and other initiatives which are in the pipeline.

Many many thanks Hannah for all you have done; may God bless you and all you will do in leading and serving the community in Oxford!
