at Liverpool Cathedral

Please check this week’s visiting times below before you visit. Last entry to the Cathedral is 15 minutes before closing time.

You don’t need to book to visit Liverpool Cathedral and visiting our building is usually free. We do charge for some special events or ask for donations, for example, when we have an Organ Recital.

The Closing time displayed for the Tower is the time of the last entry. The Tower will close 30 minutes later.

On Sundays The Cathedral is open for worship between 10:00am-12:00pm, you are welcome to join us.

If you wish to have a full visitor experience, please come at 12:00pm.


Scheduled Changes

We occasionally need to make changes to our opening hours or close part, or all, of the Cathedral due to various factors. We recommend checking here before your visit to make a note of any changes.


Sunday 28th June 2026

The Shop, Tower and Welsford Bistro will open at 12:30 pm

The Tower will close at 3:15 pm for Bell Ringing


Friday 3rd July 6pm – Saturday 4th 3pm

The Cathedral car park will be closed to visitors during this period.

A limited number of accessible parking spaces will remain available on a first-come, first-served basis. Visitors requiring accessible parking should report to the Constable’s Lodge for access through the main gates.  


Saturday 4th July 2026

Liverpool Cathedral will remain open as usual however, some areas of the building will have restricted access due to a private event.

The Lady Chapel will remain open throughout the day for visitors and services.

The Welsford Bistro will operate from the Baptistery between 10:00am and 1:00pm before closing for the remainder of the day.

Visitor entry to the Cathedral will be temporarily paused between 1:45pm and 2:15pm. During this time, access will be via the Lady Chapel entrance only.


Sunday 5th July 2026

The Tower is CLOSED for Bell Ringing


Wednesday 8th – Thursday 9th July 2026

The Cathedral, The Shop, The Tower and The Welsford Bistro will be CLOSED

The Lady Chapel will be open 10 am-6 pm for visitors and services


Monday 20 July – Friday 24th July 2026

The Cathedral is closed for LJMU Graduations

The Shop will be open for those in the building for Graduations only

The Welsford Bistro will remain open from the Welsford Porch

The Lady Chapel will be open for Services and Visitors

No Public Parking – Blue Badge Parking for Guests Only (Notify The Lodge On Entry)


Sunday 2nd August 2026

The Tower is CLOSED for Bell Ringing

Last food order 30 mins before closing, cakes and drinks available until closing.

You’ll find the times when our Welsford Bistro is serving refreshments further down this page.  Please note that if you are still enjoying refreshments in the Welsford Bistro after the main Cathedral closes, exit from the Cathedral will be via the Welsford Porch, or Sir Giles Gilbert Scott Suite.
