Liverpool Cathedral Welcomes Year 6 Pupils for School Leavers Services 2026

This week, Liverpool Cathedral is delighted to welcome Year 6 pupils from schools across the Diocese of Liverpool for our annual School Leavers Services.

Taking place from Monday to Thursday, these special services give children the opportunity to pause, reflect and celebrate the end of their primary school journey as they prepare to take their next exciting steps into secondary education.

Each year, thousands of pupils, teachers and school staff gather in the magnificent surroundings of Liverpool Cathedral for a service of thanksgiving, reflection and encouragement. The services provide a chance to look back on the achievements, friendships and experiences that have shaped their time at primary school, while looking forward with confidence to the opportunities and challenges ahead.

For many young people, visiting Liverpool Cathedral for their School Leavers Service is a memorable milestone, marking an important transition in their lives. Through music, prayer and reflection, pupils are encouraged to celebrate all they have accomplished and embrace the future with hope and courage.

As we welcome large numbers of visiting schools throughout the week, visitors should be aware that access to some areas of the Cathedral may be limited at certain times. To safeguard the children attending, photography inside the Cathedral will also be restricted during the services.

We are honoured to host this important tradition and look forward to celebrating with pupils, teachers and school communities from across the Diocese of Liverpool.

We wish all Year 6 pupils every success and happiness as they begin this exciting new chapter.

Visitor Information
During School Leavers Services, access to parts of the Cathedral may be limited due to large numbers of visiting pupils and staff. Photography inside the Cathedral will be restricted during service times. Thank you for your understanding.
