The Light Before Christmas has become one of the city’s most loved festive traditions. Each year, more than 30,000 people step into the magical glow of Liverpool Cathedral for a spectacular transformation that captures the wonder of Christmas and enchants families, friends, and colleagues alike.

Now in its fourth year, this breathtaking light and sound experience returns with an all-new story: The Gift.
Through dazzling projections, immersive soundscapes and the Cathedral’s awe-inspiring architecture, discover a message of wonder, warmth and togetherness at the heart of Christmas.

Frequently Asked Questions

I transferred my tickets from last year’s show but haven’t heard anything yet — what should I do?

Everyone who transferred tickets should have already been contacted. If you haven’t received any communication, please email customerservice@ticketquarter.co.uk so we can assist you.

How do I obtain a carers pass?

Please call Ticket Quarter directly on 0344 8000 410 to book your tickets and mention you need a carers ticket.

 

 

How early should I arrive for my slot?

Please be ready to have your tickets checked ten minute before your slot begins.

Is the show accessible for wheelchairs and pushchairs?

Absolutely! There is lift access to the Main Space and whilst the Well has step access only, there a designated viewing point from the top of the Well that is accessible for all.

Can I store my pram?

We do not have pram storage available for this years installation.

How long does the show last?

As long as you want it to! We recommend that each visit takes roughly 40 minutes to complete.

Is parking available at the Cathedral?

The Cathedral carpark operates on a first come, first serve basis. This is chargeable using an ANPR system, which you pay for at one of the pay points before you exit.

Are dogs allowed?

For this event, only service dogs are allowed to attend.

Is there a sensory showing?

Yes! A quiet show is available from 16:30 to 17:00 on Wednesday 3rd December. With reduced capacity and lower music level, this session is designed to offer a more relaxed and comfortable experience, particularly for visitors with additional needs. Book here 

Will the Shop and Welsford Bistro be open?

Definitely! Visitors can do some Christmas shopping from our Cathedral Shop or enjoy a festive menu from the Welsford Bistro, once inside for the show.

Access to the Shop and Welsford will not be available from 3PM – until your slot.
