Liverpool Cathedral Opening Hours

Please check this week’s visiting times below before you visit. Last entry to the Cathedral is 15 minutes before closing time.

You don’t need to book to visit Liverpool Cathedral and visiting our building is usually free. We do charge for some special events or ask for donations, for example, when we have an Organ Recital.

The Closing time displayed for the Tower is the time of the last entry. The Tower will close 30 minutes later.

On Sundays The Cathedral is open for worship between 10-12, you are welcome to join us.

If you wish to have a full visitor experience, please come at 12.

Scheduled Changes

We occasionally need to make changes to our opening hours or close part, or all, of the Cathedral due to various factors. We recommend checking here before your visit to make a note of any changes.

Monday 9th – Thursday 12th June 2025

During our School Leavers Services, access to parts of the Cathedral may be limited due to large numbers of visiting pupils and staff.
As these are services for children, photography inside the Cathedral will be restricted during this time.

Thursday 26th – Friday 27th June 2025

Access to the Cathedral will be via The Scott Suite Entrance while we set up for the Cathedral abseils.

Sunday 29th June 2025

The Tower is closed from 15:00 for Bell Ringing. Last Entry 14:30.

Monday 30th June – Wednesday 2nd of July 2025

There will be No Access to the Well of the Cathedral.

Saturdays in July

The Main Entrance is the Scott Suite Entrance in the Car Park, this is due to Cathedral Abseils taking place.

Eating and Drinking at
Liverpool Cathedral

Last food order 30 mins before closing, cakes and drinks available until closing.

You’ll find the times when our Welsford Bistro is serving refreshments further down this page. Please note that if you are still enjoying refreshments in the Welsford Bistro after the main Cathedral closes, exit from the Cathedral will be via the Welsford Porch, or Sir Giles Gilbert Scott Suite.
