Could Your Child Become a Liverpool Cathedral Chorister?

Every year, young people from across the region become part of one of Liverpool’s most inspiring musical traditions – the Choir of Liverpool Cathedral.

This June, we are inviting children who love to sing to take their first step towards becoming a chorister and joining our world-renowned Cathedral Choir.

More Than Just Singing

Being a chorister is about much more than learning music.

It is an opportunity to develop confidence, discipline and teamwork while making lifelong friendships and becoming part of a welcoming community.

Our choristers sing regularly in services at Liverpool Cathedral, perform in concerts, work alongside professional musicians and take part in special events throughout the year. Many describe it as an experience that shapes them for life.

Singing in an Extraordinary Place

Liverpool Cathedral is the largest cathedral in the UK and home to one of the country’s finest choirs.

From the moment a chorister sings their first service beneath the soaring arches of the Cathedral, they become part of a musical tradition that has inspired worshippers and visitors for generations.

The Cathedral Choir regularly performs some of the world’s greatest choral music and plays a central role in services, concerts and major civic occasions.

Developing Skills for Life

The benefits of being a chorister extend far beyond music.

Children develop:

  • Confidence and self-belief
  • Teamwork and communication skills
  • Musical ability and vocal technique
  • Discipline and commitment
  • Friendships and social connections

Many former choristers go on to pursue careers in music, while others simply carry the confidence and life skills gained through their time in the choir into whatever path they choose.

Chorister Recruitment 2026

We are currently recruiting:

Boys in Years 2–6
Girls in Years 5–6

No previous choir experience is required – just enthusiasm, potential and a love of singing.

Auditions: Friday 27 June – Sign Up Here

Auditions are designed to be friendly and relaxed, helping us discover young people who enjoy singing and may benefit from joining the choir.

If your child loves music and enjoys singing, we would be delighted to hear from you.
