Join Us for the First Ever UN International Day of Hope – Saturday 12 July

We’re proud to be part of a global moment right here in Liverpool. On Saturday 12 July, Liverpool Cathedral will mark the first-ever UN-sponsored International Day of Hope – and you’re invited to take part.

This special day shines a spotlight on the United Nations’ Global Goals – a shared blueprint to achieve a better, fairer world for all. These 17 goals aim to tackle the most pressing global challenges, from climate change to inequality, with a focus on climate, culture, and community.

While events will be taking place in London, New York, and Johannesburg, Liverpool is honoured to be the only non-capital city invited to participate. With Hope Street as a symbolic centrepiece, it’s only fitting that Liverpool Cathedral stands as a beacon of hope on this historic day.

Leave Your Message of Hope

To mark the occasion, we’re inviting visitors to pause, reflect, and share their personal messages of hope at our Prayer Station, located inside the Cathedral.

Whether your hope is for peace, healing, community, justice, or renewal, your words matter. This station offers a space for quiet reflection, encouragement, and unity in the face of global challenges.

A Global Creative Vision

Internationally renowned artist Yinka Ilori, commissioned by Project Everyone, has created vibrant, uplifting artwork to help amplify the message of hope across the globe. You’ll see this colourful branding and design throughout the day – online and on site – including opportunities to share your own message on social media using themed templates and frames.

Spread the word Hope starts with all of us

This is more than a campaign – it’s a movement. A chance to be part of something bigger than ourselves, standing alongside people from every corner of the world, choosing hope over fear, and action over apathy.

We hope to see you there.
