Celebrate Black History 2025 with Us

Welcome > News > Celebrate Black History 2025 with Us
Posted on September 26, 2025

As October approaches, we welcome Black History Month. This is a time to honour the remarkable contributions and achievements of Black people — past, present, and future. This month also offers a time for learning, reflection and greater understanding.

Whether you want to explore thought-provoking art, engage in inspiring conversations or immerse yourself in worship, there is a way for everyone in the Diocese to celebrate Black History Month.

Why not join us this October by taking part in one of our events. Together, lets continue the journey of elevating Black history, stories and voices – driving meaningful change towards a future rooted in racial justice.

Black History Month Service at Liverpool Cathedral – 12th October

Join us in worship for our annual Black History Month Eucharist service at 3 pm in the Nave Altar.

Testament to Truth at Liverpool Cathedral – 20th October

Renowned West Yorkshire poet, rapper, and world-record breaking beatboxer, Testament, takes to the stage for a performance that speaks powerfully to our times. Through original theatre and reflection, this event explores the themes of inclusion, community, identity and the role of faith and spirituality in shaping who we are—both as individuals and as a society.

In honour of Black History Month, this evening is more than a performance – it’s a call to listen, to reflect, and to awaken. Testament to Truth invites you to walk with him through stories that challenge, uplift, and inspire.
