In this momentous year, marking the centenary of Liverpool Cathedral’s consecration in 1924, this award not only reflects the cathedral’s extraordinary achievements in sustainability and energy efficiency but also honours its deep-rooted tradition of progress and service to the community.
The Eco Church Silver Award celebrates the Cathedral’s efforts to care for God’s creation, transforming its spaces into vibrant sanctuaries for wildlife and promoting sustainable practices that inspire the wider community.

The Dean of Liverpool the very Revd Dr Sue Jones says: “The staff at the Cathedral and those who have advised have worked really hard over the past year to gain this Silver Award. As a Cathedral we are delighted that this has been achieved after a lot of hard work to re-think our practices. Net Zero is really important to us and we will continue to strive for this and to care for God’s world.”
