A Look Back at the First Six Months of 2025
As we move into the second half of 2025, we’re taking a moment to reflect on the incredible work Micah Liverpool has achieved so far this year. Thanks to the generosity of our volunteers, donors, and partners, we’ve continued to make a tangible difference in the lives of many across the city. Here are just a few of the headlines from the past six months:
Supporting Over 300 Households Every Week
Each week, Micah distributes more than 300 emergency food parcels across its foodbanks, helping individuals and families facing food insecurity. In addition, up to 100 households are supported through our affordable community food markets, where fresh food is made available at low cost. These services continue to be a vital resource for many in Liverpool.
Life-Changing Opportunities Through Recruitability
The first Recruitability Programme of 2025 saw ten participants take part, with three going on to secure full-time employment – two of whom are now working in the Civil Service. Another participant has returned to education, while two continue to volunteer their time to support others. The second cohort launched in May with another ten participants, including one with refugee status, whose place is supported by funding from the John Moores Foundation. Micah also benefitted from Torus Foundation funding which enabled Recruitability participants to enjoy a Royal Liver Building trip. It was a great opportunity to make connections outside of the classroom environment.”
500 Beds Delivered in Partnership with Zarach
In March, Micah celebrated a major milestone with Zarach, the national charity working to end child bed poverty. Since our partnership began in June 2023, Zarach has now delivered 500 beds to children in need across Liverpool. We’re proud to continue our role as a Liverpool Partnership Hub, ensuring every child has a bed to sleep in.
Celebrating Our Volunteers
March also saw the return of our Volunteer Day, where nearly 30 volunteers came together for a day of gratitude, connection, and reflection. It was a fantastic opportunity to bring together the many different teams that make Micah’s work possible and to say thank you for the time, energy, and compassion they give so freely.
Cathedral Abseils
This July, Micah Liverpool’s Chief Executive Officer, Cathy Kearney and Recruitability Programme Lead, Jayne Hennessy went to new heights by bravely taking part in the Liverpool Cathedral Abseils. Not only did they conquer the 150ft descent down the Cathedral’s iconic West Front, but they also raised an incredible £1,338.75 in the process.
Their courage and commitment are a true reflection of the spirit at the heart of Micah’s work, and we’re so grateful to everyone who supported their fundraising efforts.
Thank You to Our Community
None of this would be possible without the continued support of our incredible volunteers and faithful donors. Whether it’s giving time, funds, or goods, your contributions are what allow Micah to keep growing and supporting those who need it most.
Here’s to the rest of 2025 and to continuing this important work together.
