Cathedral Abseil
For over a decade, thousands have experienced the thrill of abseiling off the iconic Liverpool Cathedral. Descending in a 150ft free hang from above the great West Door, some people face fears, some revel in the excitement – all raise money for some amazing charities and causes.
The 2025 Cathedral Abseil raised approximately £100,000 for 49 charities including Claire House, Alder Hey, and Whitechapel. Thanks to everyone who took part!
Aside from a break in 2020, the Liverpool Cathedral abseils have been taking place every year since 2010, and have raised an estimated £1.6 million for charities and good causes in Liverpool and beyond – an incredible achievement made possible by the dedicated fundraisers who have taken on this challenge and our generous community.
After careful consideration, we have decided to not hold the Liverpool Cathedral abseils in 2026. Rising costs have led to higher ticket prices, along with a reduced contribution to the Cathedral and we’ve seen a gradual decline in demand over the last few years.
We’ll be using the year ahead to review the event and decide whether it could return in 2027 in a sustainable way.
